MarketLane helps people discover products from independent South African businesses and connect directly with the business selling them.
A place for independent businesses
Businesses create their own profiles, publish products and supply their public contact details. Shoppers can browse departments, compare prices in rand and contact a seller before making a purchase.
Participating businesses can add PayFast or Paystack product links. Checkout guides a buyer to the seller’s hosted payment page. MarketLane is separate from the sellers and payment providers.
Who does what?
| Party | Role in the current service |
|---|---|
| MarketLane | Hosts profiles, product listings, search, seller enquiries and links to gateway checkout. |
| The seller | Describes and supplies the product, confirms stock and price, arranges delivery and handles after-sales questions. |
| The payment provider | Processes the transaction on the seller’s gateway page and manages receipts and settlement under its own terms. |
| The buyer | Reviews the item and seller, confirms the agreement, keeps purchase records and raises problems with the relevant business. |
